The Grabovica River originates in the village of the same name, at an altitude of around 1,250 meters, where the Morava and Studena streams merge into a single, lively flow. Along its short yet striking valley, the Grabovica cuts through gravel and chalky limestone, creating breathtaking scenery. The river valley rises about 200 meters above the level of the Komarnica, offering views of diverse landscapes and steep, rocky slopes.
The greatest jewel of the Grabovica is the Skakavica Waterfall, approximately 80 meters high. It is located at the lowest part of the valley, where the river bursts through limestone rock just before joining the Komarnica. The waterfall is periodic in nature, it completely dries up during the summer months and often freezes in winter, creating a spectacular icy scene that draws mountaineers and nature lovers alike.
Equally captivating is the Grabovica Canyon, about one kilometer long. What makes it unique is that it is illuminated by sunlight almost throughout its entire length, turning the passage through it into an extraordinary experience of light, water, and stone. The adventure of traversing the canyon includes descending several smaller waterfalls and pools amid pristine wilderness.
This canyon is a perfect destination for all who seek adrenaline and unforgettable natural beauty. However, it is strongly recommended not to attempt the adventure without proper equipment and an experienced guide, as nature here is both magnificent and powerful.
