Where mountains, rivers, and valleys meet

You must be wondering how that's possible. In the morning the sun rises behind the hill Kravica to set behind the hill Gradac around 2 p.m. The second time it appears in the Bukovica canyon. At the end of the day it finally sets behind the Vojnik mountain. This natural phenomenon is just one of the many that adorns our town.

Šavnik, located on the banks of the three rivers:  Bijela, Bukovica and Šavnik, was founded in 1861. It was named after the branches of the willow tree  which are called šavice . They were used a long time ago to cover  the roofs of the houses. A significant number of authentic  traditional architecture was preserved in this area, which makes it even more special.

The territory of the municipality of Šavnik covers  552 km2. Like a shell full of pearls Šavnik with its uniqueness attracts many visitors creating the unforgettable memories in extraordinary beauty. Aside from  the three rivers that flow on the territory of the municipality, there are also rivers  Tusinja, Bijela, Komarnica, Grabovica, waterfalls  Crnjak and Skakavica, the famous Nevidio canyon and Grabovica canyon. Also, in our municipality there are two lakes,  called Pošćensko Lakes , that adorn our municipality like two mountain eyes. All natural beauties of the municipality of Šavnik are surrounded by the mountains Durmitor, Ivica, Sinjajevina, Vojnik and Morača Mountains.
